Report: Theo Epstein's Cubs Pursuing Both Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder in Free AgencyThe Chicago Cubs are not limiting their search for a new first baseman on the free agent market.

Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder are both being pursued by the Cubs, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports. New Cubs president Theo Epstein recognizes that with new limits on amateur spending, teams must be more aggressive in spending at the major-league level, according to Rosenthal.

Pujols, 31, posted career lows with a .299 batting average, .366 on-base percentage and 99 runs batted in last season with the Cardinals.

Fielder, 27, batted .299 with 38 home runs and 120 RBI in 2011, but teams are reportedly worried about how his 5-foot-11, 275-pound body will hold up over the life of a long-term contract.

The Cubs do not plan to sign both players, Rosenthal reports, but are banking on getting at least one in case talks break down with either All-Star slugger.
