The Worcester Sharks made Rob Gronkowski an offer he couldn’t refuse.

The San Jose Sharks’ AHL affiliate, located in Worcester, Mass., offered to reimburse Gronkowski the $7,500 he was fined for spiking the ball following a touchdown against the New York Jets on Nov. 13. All the Patriots tight end has to do is spike a ceremonial puck.

Gronkowski agreed to do so on Wednesday, and he will now spike a puck at center ice prior to the Sharks’ game against the Providence Bruins at the DCU Center in Worcester on Friday, Feb. 24.

“The Sharks are really excited that Gronkowski took us up on our offer,” Sharks president Michael A. Mudd said. “This is a win-win for everyone. Sharks fans are Patriots fans and I know that they will pack the house to root on Rob and the Sharks on February 24 at the DCU Center.”

Gronkowski said after the incident against the Jets that he plans to continue spiking the football after scoring, which has become sort of a trademark for the second-year pro. He made no mention of spiking pucks, but I’m sure he can handle it.
