Bruins Sign First-Round Pick Dougie Hamilton to Entry-Level ContractDougie Hamilton is having a pretty good year. In June, he was the first-round pick of the Stanley Cup champions. Playing in juniors this season, he continues to be one of the best young defensemen in North America.

And now, he has his first NHL contract.

The Bruins announced Thursday afternoon that they have come to terms with the 18-year-old defenseman on an entry-level contract. Hamilton was drafted by the Bruins with the No. 9 pick at the NHL entry draft this summer.

After getting some time with the big club during training camp, Hamilton was sent back to juniors in the Ontario Hockey League. Unsurprisingly, Hamilton continues to tear it up with the Niagara IceDogs. He entered Thursday seventh in the league in scoring with 11-30-41 totals. He leads all OHL defensemen in those categories.
