With a one-yard run in the third quarter Sunday, Panthers rookie Cam Newton tied former Patriots quarterback Steve Grogan's record for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a season.

Grogan rushed for 12 rushing scores in 1976, his second season in the NFL and his first as a full-time starter.

Grogan also threw for 18 touchdowns that season. Newton threw his 13th passing touchdown Sunday against the Buccaneers.
