LANDOVER, Md. — Defensive lineman Gerard Warren is surprisingly inactive for the first time in his two seasons with the Patriots.

Warren, who has played well, was a healthy scratch. Based on the way Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has jockeyed his depth chart over the last month, this could be an opportunity to give Ron Brace some more reps.

Quarterback Ryan Mallett is also inactive for the 12th time this season and the 10th consecutive game.

The Patriots already ruled out safety Patrick Chung (foot), linebacker Brandon Spikes (knee), center Dan Connolly (groin), tackle Sebastian Vollmer (foot, back) and running back Shane Vereen (hamstring), all of whom did not travel with the team to Washington.
