LANDOVER, Md. — Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo fought through a calf cramp during the entire fourth quarter of Sunday's 34-27 victory against the Redskins, and it flared up badly after his game-sealing interception.

Mayo stayed on the ground for a moment after the pick, and he needed help from his teammates as he hobbled off the field in serious pain. But after his calf loosened up, he jogged back into the locker room.

"It started at the beginning of the fourth quarter," Mayo said, "but fortunately, it didn't happen until after the game was over."

It was just the second interception of Mayo's career, and he's gotten them both in consecutive games. He had nine tackles (six solo) and one quarterback hit against the Redskins.

Mayo joked that he had mixed emotions after the interception.

"It was a good feeling," he said, "but I was focused on my calf at the time."
