Liverpool Fans Leap to Defend Luis Suarez Just as He Leaps to Head Liverpool Past QPR

Liverpool fans just can't get enough of Luis Suarez. Those feelings were confirmed to be mutual when the star forward celebrated his first goal in nearly six with the KOP.

His first move after heading Charlie Adam's delivery past QPR goalkeeper Radek Cerny was to head for his most passionate supporters and jump for joy. It was there that his Liverpool teammates found the embattled goal scorer sharing in the release of tension, which had been building for the better part of two months.

Suarez faces two FA charges and much of his recent press has been negative. Rival players and managers accuse him of diving and opponents have taken the physical approach to stifling his undoubted quality.

The first FA rap stems from his alleged racially-charged verbal abuse of Patrice Evra during Liverpool's Oct. 15, draw with Manchester United. He maintains his innocence and the club is backing him in his defense.

The second came down this week. He was charged with improper conduct after he was photographed of giving Fulham fans the middle finger following Liverpool's loss at Craven Cottage.

He could be hit with a combination of fines and suspensions at the conclusion of each disciplinary process. Any absence would hinder his club's quest for a top-four finish in the English Premier League.

Both supporters and manager Kenny Dalglish accuse English soccer's governing body of hypocrisy in its treatment of "El Pistolero." And Liverpool FC has no qualms about defending its crown jewel in private and in public.
