Suh was suspended for two games by the NFL after stomping on Green Bay offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith on Thanksgiving, and Suh was then involved in a car accident in Oregon. Reported details of the latter incident have since been released, and they certainly didn’t paint Suh in a positive light.
Suh spoke to the media Wednesday, as he gets prepared to make his return from his two-game ban, and he made it very clear from the get-go that he wasn’t going to talk about his past incidents. In fact, he constantly referenced the Lions’ matchup this Sunday as the only thing on his mind at this point.
It was an impromptu news conference that surely drove Detroit reporters up a wall. On the other hand, though, the performance would certainly bring a smile to the face of Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
“I’m looking forward to Oakland,” Suh said. “I’m focused on them.”
All right then. Any comment on the whole stomping thing and/or the car crash?
“It is what it is. Like I said, I’m looking forward to playing against Oakland and getting back on the field. … Like I said, I’m looking forward to getting back on the football field.”
It is what it is? That sure sounds familiar. OK, OK. At least enlighten those media guys and gals with what you went through personally and learned during the suspension, Ndamukong.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on the field and taking on Oakland,” he said — again. “…It’s not gonna make me cry at night, it’s not gonna make me cry to sleep. It is what it is. You’re gonna write what you wanna write, and I’m gonna move on with my life.”
Of course, that wasn’t the only forgettable media interaction Suh had Wednesday. He also did his weekly radio spot with 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit. That didn’t go any better than the scrum following practice. In fact, it went even worse. Deadspin points out that Suh, frustrated by having to answer for his actions, actually called the interview short after being badgered with questions about his actions.
