The Red Sox may get a shipment from the West Coast in the form of a closer before the winter’s end.

But it won’t be cheap.

According to Peter Gammons and Nick Cafardo, the A’s are asking a lot in return for closer Andrew Bailey.

Cafardo writes in Wednesday’s globe that “the Red Sox already have discussed a deal with the A’s for Andrew Bailey, but right now the price appears high, with Oakland seeking prospects such as third baseman Will Middlebrooks that Boston is hesitant to deal.”

Gammons, meanwhile, tweeted that the A’s want Josh Reddick (not infielder Jed Lowrie) and prospects, as seen below.
