As if two power outages weren't enough, San Francisco police are now admitting that there was also a bomb threat made during the 49ers' Monday night game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to WLS radio, a bomb threat was called in before the game, but police decided that the threat wasn't credible after a quick search for an "explosive" device.

The game was also delayed twice due to power outages and Candlestick Park had to draw on an alternative power source to finish the game. The first outage pushed kickoff back 20 minutes and then a second delay occurred in the middle of the second quarter. If things had deteriorated any more, the game might have been postponed.

"They told us that we were on the second feed, so if that feed would have been somehow interrupted then we probably wouldn't have been able to get the lights back," NFL security chief Jeff Miller said.

The cause of the outages is still under investigation, but Miller said that he believes Candlestick Park will be able to host a playoff game if need be.

After the second outage was resolved, the game continued without incident and the 49ers ultimately won, 20-3.
