Report: Manny Ramirez Seeks Reinstatement to MLB, Would Have to Serve 100-Game Suspension FirstNow available on the open market: A 39-year-old designated hitter who hasn't played professionally in eight months and will have to ride the pine for 100 games before he's allowed to play.

Now, now, not everybody all jump at once.

Manny Ramirez, who retired in April rather than serve a 100-game suspension for his second positive drug test, wants back in, ESPN reports. The 12-time All-Star and former Red Sox left fielder would have to sign a contract before he can begin serving his suspension.

"If any team wants to sign me, I would play," Ramirez reportedly told Enrique Rojas. "If no one does, I would look to play in Japan or any other place. I was not prepared for retirement."

Ramirez played five games with the Tampa Bay Rays last season, retiring after 19 seasons with a .312 batting average, 555 home runs and 1,831 runs batted in.

Ramirez hasn't run afoul of just the MLB. He faces charges in Florida for a domestic incident.
