Gio Gonzalez is on the verge of heading East.

According to Peter Gammons, the Athletics are sifting through deals from the Red Sox and the Nationals and deciding on the most enticing trade package. Oakland is reportedly leaning toward Washington’s offer of prospects.

But FOX’s Ken Rosenthal reports the Red Sox are determined to land both Gonzalez and closer Andrew Bailey in a “monster” deal. If the Gonzalez deal falls through, a trade for Bailey may still be simmering behind the scenes.

Last season, Gonzalez went 16-12 with a 3.12 ERA while Bailey recorded 24 saves in 26 opportunities.

Update: The A’s and Nationals have reportedly come to terms on a deal that would send Gonzalez to Washington.
