Zdeno Chara left Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets in the second period, and the Bruins have announced that he is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Chara got tangled up with Columbus forward Antoine Vermette with about six minutes remaining in the second period. His leg bent awkwardly, and the B's captain fell to the ice. He was able to skate off under his own power, but he did not return to the lineup.

The extent of Chara's injury was not immediately known after the game, although head coach Claude Julien said that it was a lower-body injury. The team gave an update on Chara via its official Twitter account on Sunday.

The Boston Globe is reporting that sources indicate Chara will most likely not be available for games this week against the Kings, Senators and Flyers, but the defenseman is officially listed as "day-to-day."
