The Palace of Auburn Hills was considered, well, palatial when it opened in 1988. Since then, the 23-year-old building has undergone few updates while venues like the Staples Center in Los Angeles and the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis have set new standards.

Coming off a 30-52 season, new owner Tom Gores decided it was time for a few upgrades. One of the first orders of business was to revamp the locker room.
