Drew Bledsoe Offers Advice to Peyton Manning: ‘There’s a Whole Lot of Life After Football’

Drew Bledsoe knows what Peyton Manning is going through.

Both quarterbacks suffered injuries that knocked them from their starting roles. Bledsoe took a tough hit from Jets linebacker Mo Lewis in the 2001 season and never started for the Patriots again. Tom Brady took the reins, and the rest is history.

Manning's neck surgeries kept him out of the entire 2011 season and now the consensus is that the Colts will draft Andrew Luck, and likely part ways their future Hall of Fame quarterback.

Bledsoe was on Mutt and Merloni Thursday afternoon and discussed Manning, offering the Colts signal caller good advice about the risk of playing with a delicate injury.

"One thing I've learned is that there's a whole lot of life left after football," said Bledsoe. "I hope that Peyton does what is right for himself and for his family."

Bledsoe spoke about how he would probably have to draft Luck if he was in the Colts position, noting it would be tough to give Manning the bonus that he would be due in March with the uncertain nature of his health.

The former Patriots quarterback will be join the rest of the football world in following the Manning-Luck saga.

"It's going to be interesting to watch," said Bledsoe. "I honestly have no idea how that is going to end."
