The Montreal Canadiens are sitting in last place in the Northeast Division, and apparently that has a few players a bit on edge.

During Monday's practice, defenseman P.K. Subban and center Tomas Plekanec dropped the gloves after clashing during a one-on-one drill, ESPN reports. The "fight" was far from intense, but it's still interesting to see teammates publicly mix it up.

In fact, many of the Canadiens players saw the fight as a positive.

"You [reporters] will make a lot more of it than it was and you'll talk about why it happened and who it was, but the next drill, [Chris Campoli] had a good hit, guys got fired up, the intensity rose and we had a good practice out of it," said Josh Gorges, who was among those who stepped in to break it up, according to ESPN.com.

Montreal veteran Mathieu Darche said Habs players were even joking about the dust-up, and that Subban and Plekanec were talking in the gym afterward.

"It's nothing personal between me and P.K.," Plekanec reportedly said of the skirmish. "It's about the team and to realize we have to start playing as a team. Those things happen."

The Canadiens' supposed intensity hasn't translated into much success on the ice, though, as they've lost seven of their last eight games. Perhaps they should try taking on their opponents going forward.
