Report: Eric Abidal Wanted by Liverpool, AC Milan, Manchester City, as Barcelona Contract Winds DownEric Abidal's contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the season, and Liverpool and Manchester City want to bring him to England.

The Metro reports the veteran defender might join one of the Premier League giants as cover at the left and center back positions.

"Liverpool and Manchester City have apparently made Abidal aware they are keen, although they have not yet made formal offers," the report says.

The report claims Barca has offered him a fresh two-year contract, and he has would prefer to stay with the newly-crowned world champions. AC Milan is also reportedly interested in securing his services.

Now that he is in the last six months of his current contract, he can negotiate with other teams. He would be free to switch teams next summer without a transfer fee.

Abidal, 32, has 12 years' experience at the top level. The former Lyon and Lille star has 60 appearances for the French national team. He expects to represent his country at next summer's European Championships.

Abidal is in his fifth season with Barcelona, and has won three La Liga crowns, one Spanish Cup, two UEFA Champions League titles and two FIFA Club World Cups.
