There was a $1 million contract awaiting Justin Germano overseas. Instead, the right-hander opted to try his luck in Boston.

The Red Sox reached an agreement with Germano late Monday night, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The terms of the right-hander's contract have not yet been disclosed.

Germano, 29, made nine appearances for the Indians last season, going 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA before being released. He went on to to finish the season with the Samsung Lions in South Korea.

The Lions reportedly offered the pitcher a contract to stay, but Germano elected to try and resurrect his career in the majors. In six seasons with the Reds, Padres and Indians, Germano owns a 5.02 ERA.

His best season came with the Padres in 2007, when Germano finished 7-10 with a 4.46 ERA and 78 strikeouts.
