A former Red Sox hurler and native of West Roxbury, Mass., has reportedly crossed over to the dark side.
Manny Delcarmen has signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. The reliever will reportedly be invited to spring training by the Bronx Bombers.
Delcarmen, who turns 30 on Feb. 16, spent parts of six seasons with the Red Sox from 2005-2010. He even pitched two games in the World Series and three games in the ALCS in 2007, when Boston captured its second title in four years.
The right-hander was traded to the Rockies in August 2010, though, and he’s struggled to make it back to the majors after pitching just nine games down the stretch for Colorado.
Delcarmen is 11-8 with a 3.97 ERA in 298 games (all out of the bullpen). He boasted a 2.05 ERA in 44 games for Boston in 2007, and compiled a 3.27 ERA in 73 games in 2008.
