Kristine Lilly, former captain of the Boston Breakers professional soccer team and one of the most accomplished athletes of her time, is gearing up for one more match in Boston.

Only this time, she is doing it as the special guest speaker for the Massachusetts Celebration of Women in Sports Day, set to take place Friday, Feb. 3 at the Great Hall in Boston's famed Faneuil Hall.

To say that Lilly has had an impressive career would be a massive understatement. Some of her accolades include four national championships, two gold medals, five World Cups and her 130 career goals puts her second all time behind legendary scorer Mia Hamm.

This event runs from 10 a.m. to noon, and is an incredible opportunity to show recognition for all of the female high school athletes out there as well as to promote education-based programs and their role in the lives of female athletes. This year's theme is Title IX at 40, In It For The Long Run. GWS Day is co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) and the New Agenda: Northeast.

This celebration is yearly event that is tied in with National Girls and Women in Sports Day and continues to be a prime outlet of recognition for female athletes across the country, striving to bring equality and access to women in sports.
