Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd shocked baseball fans a couple of weeks ago when he revealed that he used cocaine for a significant portion of his career. Not everyone believes the former Red Sox hurler's assertions, though.

Boyd admitted that he was under the influence for more than two-thirds of his major league starts, frequently staying up all night before taking the mound.

But another former Red Sox pitcher, Bill Lee, is skeptical.

"He's like the guy who said he was pitching on acid [former Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis]. When his lips are moving, he's lying," Lee said while appearing on WEEI's Planet Mikey Show.

Boyd and Lee never played together, although both spent much of their careers in Boston. Boyd spent eight seasons with the Red Sox from 1982 to 1989, while Lee spent 10 years in Boston from 1969 to 1978.
