Eli Manning, Giants Back Up Confident Attitude to Win Super Bowl XLVIINDIANAPOLIS — The Giants were right. They’ve got a parade to throw.

The Giants pulled off their second dramatic Super Bowl victory against the Patriots, topping New England by a 21-17 margin Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. And they made the celebration count, partying on a confetti-covered field with friends and family. To them, however, the most important guest was the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

“It’s the greatest feeling in professional sports,” head coach Tom Coughlin said, “to win the Super Bowl.”

While Coughlin claimed his second world championship, Giants quarterback Eli Manning became the 11th quarterback to win a pair of rings. The Super Bowl MVP completed 30 of 40 passes for 296 yards and one touchdown, and he led his eighth game-winning drive of the season to erase a 17-9 third-quarter deficit.

“It’s the greatest thing in the world,” Manning said. “I’m just hoping we can win another one. It’s the greatest feeling in my life.”

The Giants took some heat throughout the week for their championship proclamations, but as one player said after the game, they weren’t going to tell the media they expected the Patriots to win.

Defensive lineman Chris Canty wanted Giants fans to prepare for a parade Tuesday in New York City, and he also predicted a victory Sunday on Twitter. Canty’s teammates continuously had his back and echoed his confidence, and they backed it up in Super Bowl XLVI.

“We’re a great football team,” running back Brandon Jacobs said. “We deserve this. Always be confident.

“We kept believing and this is the reward. This football team is an example of what a man’s character should be like.”
