New 'Friday Night Lights' Movie Script Reportedly Inspired by Mike Leach's Firing From Texas TechAnd you thought Law and Order was the only franchise in Hollywood ripping storylines out of the newspaper.

Friday Night Lights executive producer Peter Berg is working on bringing the franchise back to the big screen with a movie. And while there has already been a FNL movie with the likes of Billy Bob Thornton starring, this version would be based on the characters from NBC's TV show of the same name.

Oh, and it also will be basing its plot on a certain football coach from Lubbock, Texas.

"[Writer Jason Katims] has come up with a really great storyline that parallels what happened to Mike Leach," Berg told MTV News. "He's now at Washington State getting ready for what I think will be a great redemption story."

Leach is currently in the process of suing Texas Tech and ESPN for wrongful termination after allegations that he locked TTU wide receiver Adam James, son of former ESPN analyst Craig James, in an electrical closet after James suffered a concussion.

It sounds like Coach Taylor might have his work cut out for him this time.
