The Big House is going to be home to hockey's biggest stage in 2013.

According to TSN, the Red Wings will host the Maple Leafs at Michigan Stadium for the 2013 Winter Classic on Jan. 1, 2013.

The news is expected to be officially announced on Thursday and will air live on the NHL Network at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Comerica Park will be the center stage of all events during the week leading up to the main event. The Tigers' home will host a number of outdoor games, but the Red Wings-Maple Leafs matchup will be played at the University of Michigan's famous football field.

The contest won't be the stadium's first hockey game. The Big House hosted a Michigan-Michigan State battle on Dec. 11, 2010 that attracted a record 104,173 fans.
