INDIANAPOLIS — Quarterback Tom Brady might need to invest in a Halloween costume for his future trips to Buffalo, N.Y., and the Patriots will have to rethink their strategy of staying under the radar.

Brady took a random shot at Buffalo during a news conference Wednesday morning, and word quickly spread around upstate New York. The quote was on the main page of BuffaloNews.com, and it was leading newscasts, according to those in the area. The quarterback isn't very popular in that region anyway, and the annual trips will now have a new twist.

Strangely enough, the jab came while Brady was glowing about his father's influence in his life.

"He was always there to support me," Brady said. "He's been there every step of the way. Then I went to school a long ways from home, and he and my mom were there at every home football game that they could possibly be at, and a lot of road games, too. And even when I started my pro career, he traveled to Buffalo. I don't know if you guys have ever been to the hotels in Buffalo — they're not the nicest places in the world — but he would still travel to those. It was just great to grow up in a house like that and feel so supported by your mom and dad. I've always had that great support at home. I certainly wouldn't be standing here if I didn't have the love and support of my parents, and my sisters and my family."

So there it is. Obviously, Brady didn't exactly slay the city, but the citizens of Buffalo won't be warming up to the Patriots quarterback any time soon.
