Free-agent running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis has agreed to a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Green-Ellis played each of his first four seasons in New England, rushing for 2,064 yards and 29 touchdowns as a member of the Patriots. His best season came in 2010, when Green-Ellis rushed for 1,008 yards and racked up 13 touchdowns.
One of Green-Ellis' strongest traits has been his ability to hang onto the football, as he's never fumbled despite carrying the ball 510 times in his 53 NFL games. Because of that, he became a valuable member of the Patriots throughout his tenure.
And while it's unclear how much Green-Ellis will make as part of his new contract with the Bengals, money was likely what kept the 26-year-old running back from returning to the Patriots, as he was an unrestricted free agent who drew interest from multiple teams.
The Bengals' featured back, Cedric Benson, is still an unrestricted free agent.
