Stephon Marbury Accused of Assaulting Fan Following Chinese Basketball Association Playoff Loss (Video)

When Stephon Marbury was in the NBA, he went by the nickname "Starbury," got a star tattooed on his head and publicly disrespected then-Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni.

The last time he played NBA basketball was in 2009 with the Celtics. Now, Starbury can be found playing basketball in the Chinese Basketball Association, where he was recently at the center of an alleged physical altercation with a fan.

The 35-year-old point guard plays for the Beijing Ducks, who faced the Shanxi Zhongyu Brave Dragons in a CBA playoff series the night of the alleged incident. After an intense loss for the Ducks, the team made its way to the buses and, according to a report from Beijing Cream, that is where Marbury allegedly attacked a fan.

The fan claims he was punched in the face and then kicked, resulting in injuries that required a hospital visit and two weeks of bed rest.

Given the intensity of the basketball fans in China, and the fact that they threw debris on the court during the game, an instinctually violent response by Marbury would not be surprising. But the point guard is denying any wrongdoing, claiming the fan is lying about the details of his story.
