Bobby Valentine Experiences Flutter of Opening Day Excitement, Ready for Season (Video)

The Boston Red Sox kicked off the 2012 season with a tough loss in Detroit on Thursday. The players seemed a bit timid to start the game, maybe caught up with some Opening Day butterflies.

If Boston was excited heading into the start of the regular season, well they certainly weren’t alone. Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine explained that he “felt like one of the guys” on Thursday, expressing a feeling of excitement before getting things underway.

The game didn’t turn out exactly as the Red Sox had hoped, falling 3-2 to the Tigers on a walkoff single. But there’s 161 more chances for Bobby V and Co. to make up for it.
