You had to know this was coming.

Washington Capitals fans will welcome the Bruins to the Verizon Center for Game 3 on Monday night, and they'll have an especially warm welcome for goalie Tim Thomas.

If a few Capitals blogs have their way, Caps fans will be waiting for the reigning winner Vezina and Conn Smythe trophies with Barack Obama masks.

The Washington Posts points out that fans in D.C. are being called on to show up to the game with Obama masks in an attempt to get into Thomas' head. The goalie made news earlier this season when he opted to skip a team trip to the White House to meet the president who was honoring the Bruins for winning the Stanley Cup.

"Because– despite the mewling whines of 'Leave Timmy alone!' coming from the Boston area– we believe this is a winning strategy," wrote one Capitals blog, Russian Machine Never Breaks. "An angry Tim Thomas gives up goals. A scored-on Tim Thomas gets angrier. And then he gives up even more goals. It's a vicious cycle, and we just need to get it started."

Well, then, why even play the game at this point?

Regardless, a couple of the signs are pretty clever, especially the one shown below from the Russian Machine Never Breaks blog.
