BOSTON — The Bruins make some pretty impressive fashion statements in the spring and summer, and it's not just shiny Stanley Cup rings.

During their Cup run last year, the B's were sharing an old-school Bruins coat — something straight out of your uncle's attic. This time around, it's a padlock chain — something straight out of John Cena's locker. The chain has 20 links (representing the 20 players that dress each game), and each link is as strong as the next. None are weak.

"It’s something, kind of like last year with the jacket. Andrew [Ference] made something that symbolizes a team, a chain," said Chris Kelly, recipient of the first chain. "Try not to be that weak link, and it’s one of those things that you pass out after a game. It’s one of those things that’s all in good fun. It just started for the playoffs."

Kelly made a strong statement in the Bruins' playoff opener against the Capitals at the TD Garden.

"He wasn’t the weak link [Thursday night]," Tim Thomas added with a smile.

Kelly locked up the B's first win of the postseason with an overtime winner, so it was only fitting that he rocked the spoked-B padlock chain, which can be seen in the photos below. Get the story behind the chain from Ference by clicking here.
