Formula One Grand Prix Race in Bahrain Overshadowed by Violent Protests (Photos)Sebastian Vettel won the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday, but that really wasn't the big story of the weekend for Formula One.

The big story, instead, was that the race even went on at all. That's because F1 made a controversial decision in deciding to return to Bahrain in the midst of turmoil and unrest. The country continues to be a political hotspot in the face of anti-government protests.

The unruly environment actually led F1 to cancel last year's race, and the decision to return for this year's running was a controversial move worldwide.

The race went off without much of a hitch despite being in the middle of a politically charged environment with ongoing protests, but unrest was still high around the track.
