Every pitcher wants the inside edge, but no one wants to see someone get hurt.

That's why Red Sox reliever Justin Thomas said he was relieved to see Twins first baseman Chris Parmelee getting up after being hit in the head by a pitch in the sixth inning of Wednesday night's Red Sox win.

"It was tough," Thomas told ESPN. "It was obviously not my intention. I was throwing a fastball in, busting him in, and it ran off on him. Scary. I was just glad to see at the end of the game that he was back in the dugout."

Thomas said it sounded like the pitch hit Parmelee "flush in the helmet," which could be why he wasn't injured further.

Parmelee laid face down for a moment but was able to get up and walk off the field without help. He left the game and will be evaluated by Twins' medical staff to see if there was any further injury.
