Karl Alzner poked the bear in Game 3.

The Capitals defenseman grabbed a visibly angry Milan Lucic during a scrum in the third period of Monday night's game after the Bruins winger engaged with Matt Hendricks down near the Washington net. The headlock by Alzner frustrated Lucic even more, but it's Alzner's post-scrum antics that could carry over into Game 4.

Alzner appeared to call Lucic a baby while wiping away some invisible tears. Alzner could then be seen smiling on the Washington bench as Lucic was sent to the box for four minutes for roughing.

But this altercation may have been a long time coming, as Alzner tweeted about Lucic back on March 10, telling his followers that he could take the Bruins forward. That came after the Capitals defeated the Bruins 4-3 in a game in which Alzner and Lucic received matching roughing penalties in the first period.

It was a bit debatable how serious Alzner was at the time, especially with the "….haha" that followed. However, looking back, it appears he may actually have it out for Lucic, which probably doesn't bode well for the Capitals defenseman. After all, Lucic was voted the toughest player in the league by his peers this season.

Consider the bear awake.
