There was speculation this past offseason that the Red Sox were interested in Gavin Floyd. The right-hander eventually stayed put in Chicago, though, and he'll be looking to shut down the Boston lineup on Sunday.
That'll be a tall task for Floyd, though, as the Red Sox enter the series finale riding a six-game winning streak that includes three victories over the White Sox. Jake Peavy kept the Boston offense in check on Saturday night, but Jon Lester was fantastic himself, and the Red Sox came away with a 1-0 win.
Josh Beckett will take the ball for Boston on Sunday, going up against Floyd, who sits at 1-3 with a 3.60 ERA so far this season. Beckett, meanwhile, is 2-2 with a 4.56 ERA, and is coming off a six-inning, winning effort on Tuesday.
Kelly Shoppach will be Beckett's battery mate. He'll bat ninth, with Marlon Byrd moving up to the No. 8 spot in the lineup.
Kevin Youkilis was originally expected to be in the Boston lineup, but he — as well as Chicago's Paul Konerko — is a late scratch.
