Kevin Youkilis Has 'Pretty Good Bruise' on Leg After Being Hit by PitchThe injuries are coming fast and furious for Kevin Youkilis.

The third baseman left Saturday's game against the Yankees after being drilled on his left leg by a pitch from David Phelps. Youkilis took first and came around to score in the inning, but he was replaced his next at-bat by Nate Spears.

"He's got a pretty good bruise on his leg," said manager Bobby Valentine, who said he talked to Youkilis after the game. "He says it all kind of stiffened up on him."

Youkilis had been battling a groin injury earlier in the week and missed the Red Sox' game on Monday, the same day he and Valentine were the center of attention for comments Valentine made about his slow start.

The Red Sox said Saturday that Youkilis left the game with a left quadriceps "contusion."
