Patriots' First-Round Maneuverings Prove NFL Draft Selections Are Much More Than Just Coin Tosses

It may not always work out like NFL teams want it to, but there's almost always a method to the madness.

The Patriots showed that on Thursday night, with an impressive showing on draft night, as the Pats were able to make the most out of their two first-round picks by trading up twice. It was an unprecedented move for a team that moves down quite frequently.

The Pats moved up to bolster their defense by selecting Chandler Jones and Dont'a Hightower, two moves that should help that unit in both the short and long term.

It was a calculated couple of moves to get better, but sometimes you wonder if maybe flipping a coin really is the way to go.
