Vince Wilfork Calls Quarterbacks 'Wimpy,' Would Start Tim Tebow Over Mark SanchezVince Wilfork delighted the crowd at the Patriots’ Hall Speaker Series on Monday night. But between the laughs, the New England defensive tackle responded to questions with some candid answers.

While much of what Wilfork said throughout the evening was said in a joking manner, he was more than willing to tackle any questions thrown his way.

Wilfork was asked what part of the NFL he’d like to change if he could, according to the Boston Herald, and the Patriots lineman said he’d get rid of certain penalties.

“I can do without them,” Wilfork reportedly said. “You have a guy that’s making $30 million a year [the quarterback[, but you can’t touch him. C’mon, let’s be for real now. Me as a defensive lineman, it’s OK for somebody to hold me up, and another guy to come and chop my legs, and I can’t protect myself. I can do without that. That’s probably the main thing. Being able to hit a quarterback good. We need that. We need that back right there.

“But you hurt the franchise of your team if you’re allowed to tee off on the quarterback,” Wilfork continued. “Cuz you know, quarterbacks are wimpy.”

According to the Boston Herald, Wilfork was asked to step into another large man’s shoes; Jets head coach Rex Ryan. Wilfork was asked whether he’d start Mark Sanchez or Tim Tebow at quarterback this season — a question that could eventually become a hot topic of discussion should Sanchez and the Jets stumble out of the gate.

“Tebow. He’s a winner. He’s proven,” Wilfork reportedly said. “I mean, I’ll tell you what, both have positives and negatives. You really can’t go wrong. I’m glad I’m not in that boat. Put it like that.”

Also during his Q&A, Wilfork reportedly called teammate Logan Mankins the best guard in football, said he doesn’t talk trash on the field and noted that he prefers an interception over a sack.

However, it was Wilfork’s humor that apparently stole the show.
