Rodgers told 1090 AM San Diego this week that he has been asked to host Saturday Night Live, but he said no because he didn't think he'd have time to do it well.
"I have been invited," he said. "I want to do it right, and the commitment that it takes, in my opinion, to do it the right way, was just too much for this offseason."
SNL will be getting its NFL fix before the show takes its summer hiatus, of course — Eli Manning has been booked as the May 5 host with musical guest Rihanna.
Playoff-caliber pressure is already building for Manning's performance, considering his brother Peyton turned in one of the most memorable skits in SNL history.
"Peyton set the bar pretty high, and it'll be interesting to see Eli this week to see if he can live up to his brother's appearance," Rodgers said.
Rodgers said that if he goes on the show, he'll want to spend the entire week ahead getting ready and working with the writers, saying "you can tell the people who really put the time in on it."
But as for whether he'll get his chance, Rodgers seemed pretty confident.
"I will be doing that in the future," he told the radio station.
