FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots ran through their first open practice of rookie camp Friday, and all 20 expected participants were accounted for during the media portion of the session. There were also some unidentified tryout players in attendance.

The 20 expected participants included seven draft picks, seven undrafted free agents and six players who were also in the NFL in some capacity last year. Those players included running back Eric Kettani, defensive ends Alex Silvestro, Markell Carter and Aaron Lavarias, kicker Chris Koepplin and quarterback Mike Hartline.

Bill Belichick ran the practice with a large slate of coaches, including offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. Director of player personnel Nick Caserio was also inside the Dana-Farber Field House for the session.

The media attended about 20 minutes of the practice, which involved stretching and one set of positional drills.

Sixth-round pick Nate Ebner, a special teamer who has developed something of a cult following, spent time on the stationary bike, which means he's treating an injury of some sort. He was not wearing a brace or a wrap.

Former Patriots offensive lineman Joe Andruzzi was also helping out at practice. He floated around and helped strength and conditioning coach Harold Nash with the stretching portion.

The Patriots conducted some private work on the field earlier in the day, and the final media session will be Saturday.
