Cody Ross Relieved There Aren't Broken Bones in His Foot, Expects to Avoid Disabled ListPHILADELPHIA –– The disabled list likely isn't an option for Cody Ross.

Two days after fouling a ball off his left foot, the outfielder remains out of the Red Sox lineup. But after undergoing X-rays on Friday, Ross is encouraged by the fact that there are no broken bones, which sets him up for a quicker return.

"I'm still trying to walk on it gingerly, just to let it heal and get some blood flow in there," Ross said. "I could probably, if I really tried hard, walk normal, but they want me to take it easy."

The Red Sox need to take a cautious approach, considering their lack of depth in the outfield. Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford have already been sidelined for much of the season with their respective injuries.

Since Ryan Sweeney underwent concussion tests –– as a result of his memorable grab on Saturday –– the Red Sox were forced to recall Che-Hsuan Lin from Pawtucket, while optioning down Mauro Gomez.

Ross is second on the team in home runs (eight) and RBIs (28). He belted a homer in Friday's game against Philadelphia.
