The Summer Olympics organizers in London should not be disheartened.
They’ve had to abandon their request to have The Who drummer Keith Moon perform at the opening ceremony due to Moon being dead.
But there may be a chance that bandmate Roger Daltrey can help bring him back.
Daltrey recounted the story of the International Olympic Committee asking the band’s manager if Moon could play at the summer games during his Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance on May 3.
Host Jimmy Kimmel asked Daltrey if, indeed, a request had been made for the late Moon.
“It is true, and it could only happen in Britain,” Daltrey said. “I mean, [the British] are so organized.”
He said the band’s manager was the one to reply to the Olympic Committee’s email.
“Our manager sent an email back responding, ‘Well, actually, he currently resides at Golders Green Crematorium, where he’s been for the last 35 years, but maybe if you’ve got a round table, some letters and some glasses, you might be able to get him there.'”
“Have a séance and bring him back?” Kimmel asked.
“Yes!” Daltrey replied.
It may be quite the undertaking, but The Who have had magical performances before.
