Jon Lester Wins Amica Pitcher of the Week With Second Complete Game of SeasonA team can struggle when its opponent gets out to a fast start with an early lead. Morale can be hurt even worse when a team loses a lead in the late innings of a game. So when a starting pitcher is able to start strong and finish strong, it goes a long way for a ball club.

Jon Lester was dominant in every inning of the Red Sox 6-1 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday. Lester improved to 2-3 on the season with the victory, and reaffirmed why he is one of the best starting pitchers in the majors.

The Red Sox scored two runs in the first inning, which was all Lester would need for the night. The lefty threw for all nine innings, allowing only one run on eight hits. Lester was a force out of the gate, retiring the first 11 batters he faced. His command on the game never let up, as Lester was able to finish his second complete game of the season.

After Lester allowed the Mariners' only run of the game in the top of the ninth, he struck out Alex Liddi to seal the victory.

The Red Sox have won six of their last seven games, and are looking to carry their momentum into a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Lester is scheduled to start on Saturday, May 19. For his ability to command the game right from the first inning, and carry his dominance for a complete game victory, Jon Lester is the Amica Pitcher of the Week.
