Kevin Youkilis won’t be in the lineup for the third straight game as the Red Sox and A’s will try to battle the elements and play some baseball on Tuesday night.

Youkilis was scratched late on Monday with a stiff back after sitting out Sunday’s game against Chicago, but Bobby Valentine described the team’s third baseman as “day-to-day” after the team’s 11-6 win over the A’s Monday night. That will apparently mean keeping him sidelined at least one more day.

Nick Punto will once again replace Youkilis in the lineup playing third and batting ninth, while the Red Sox look to continue their recent hot streak at the plate against Oakland starter Jarrod Parker, making his second start for the A’s.

Felix Doubront will counter for the Red Sox, as the lefty looks to continue building on his strong start to 2012. Last time out, Doubront picked up his first win of the year by holding the White Sox to three runs over six innings in an eventual 10-3 Red Sox victory.
