Red Sox to Celebrate Carl Beane With Pregame Ceremony at Fenway ParkRed Sox nation lost a major member of the organization on Wednesday, as the team’s beloved PA announcer, Carl Beane, was tragically killed in a car crash in Sturbridge, Mass.

Beane, who was a beloved member of the organization and the team’s PA announcer since 2003, will be honored in a ceremony at Fenway Park before Thursday night’s game against the Cleveland Indians.

The Red Sox want to honor Beane’s memory with the special ceremony, commemorating his life and work throughout his career in sports broadcasting. The team has also chosen to leave the PA announcer’s microphone silent throughout the game, meaning batters will not be introduced during at-bats, in memory of Beane’s impact and legacy.

The pregame ceremony will begin at 6:56 p.m. Tune in to NESN for live coverage of the event.
