Cole Hamels is widely considered to be the best pitcher hitting the free agent market this offseason. That is, of course, if he doesn't re-sign with the Phillies first.

The Philadelphia starter's agent is reportedly asking the team for a seven-year deal, according to NBC Philadelphia's Howard Eskin.

Hamels, 28, is 5-1 with a 2.28 ERA to start the season, and would likely be looking for a similar contract to the one that C.J. Wilson signed this past offseason. Wilson, who is three years older than Hamels, signed a five-year $77.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels.
