Report: Greg Oden Interested in Playing for Miami Heat Once He Gets HealthyAt this point, it could just be a matter of "if" Greg Oden plays in the NBA again, rather than "when" he'll return. But if the former No. 1 overall pick's rehab goes as planned, he might have his sights set on South Beach.

Oden's agent, Mike Conley Sr., said that Oden is positioned to be ready to play in December or January "as far as being effective and in shape," and he will explore options in the coming months, according to The Miami Herald. The Heat are reportedly among those options the 24-year-old big man will explore.

"Greg has talked about Miami," Conley reportedly said. "He has interest. He's not retiring."

According to Conley, the Heat haven't called Oden regarding his future, but it's an intriguing possibility. Oden has been effective when healthy, averaging 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game through his 82 career contests, but a lot will have to happen between now and then in order for the former Ohio State star to generate much interest on the open market.

For now, the Heat are focused on the task at hand. That could eventually mean a date with 2007's No. 2 overall pick, Kevin Durant, who's looking to lead his Thunder to an NBA title.
