Report: Vince Young to Work Out for Buffalo BillsVince Young showed some promise at the quarterback position during the 2011 season. And soon he could find himself taking snaps in the AFC East.

The Buffalo Bills are set to work out Young on Wednesday, according to an ESPN report. The move would provide the Bills with solid insurance and depth at the position behind starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Young showed flashes of the brilliance during six games with the Philadelphia Eagles last season. He appeared to possess the same swagger and accuracy that had him drafted third overall in 2006, but at times the soon to be 29-year-old (May 18) signal caller also displayed the poor judgment that cost him the starting job in Tennesse.

Young impressed in a pair of starts against the New York Giants and New England, throwing for 400 yards in a 38-20 loss to the Patriots. But he also posted a career-low 60.8 passer rating and threw nine interceptions to just four touchdowns on the 2011 season.

Following the NFL draft over the weekend, Bills GM Buddy Nix noted that his team was interested in signing a backup quarterback after they had missed out on finding a solution through the draft.

"We're going to get one in free agency," Nix said. "We're going to bring in a quarterback, and we think a good one."

Young appears to be that guy, although he likely wouldn't have much of a shot at a starting role with Fitzpatrick sporting a new $59 million extension.

Fitzpatrick completed 62 percent of his passes, throwing for 3,832 yards and 24 touchdowns on the year. But the Bills backup last season was journeyman Tyler Thigpen, from whom Young would be a major upgrade.
