Rich Hill's Surgically Repaired Elbow Feels Fine Despite Heavy Workload Upon His ReturnKANSAS CITY, Mo. –– Rich Hill was pushed to the limit on Sunday.

Considering he made his return from Tommy John surgery –– and was recalled to the majors a week ago –– Hill's two-plus innings on Sunday qualified as a heavy workload.

It signaled Hill's longest outing in his four appearances this season and his second outing in three days. Despite the extended workload, Hill maintains that his surgically repaired elbow remains strong.

"When you're called to pitch, you pitch," Hill said. "When you're called to do anything, this is your job. There aren't any excuses. If I was still feeling like I wasn't ready and unable to be here and I pitch, I would've said something. That's not the case.

"You're ready to pitch everyday –– that's the way I look at it. You have to be ready physically in order to be ready every single day."

Hill underwent Tommy John surgery on his left elbow last June and made his first appearance for the Red Sox on April 29.
