Source: Tiquan Underwood Released by Patriots, Timing Helps Him Get New Opportunity Elsewhere

FOXBORO, Mass. — Wide receiver Tiquan Underwood has been released by the Patriots once again, according to a source, though the news of this transaction will come with a lot less publicity.

By cutting ties with Underwood on Thursday, the Patriots have given him ample time to find another opportunity before the 2012 season. New England has a host of talented veterans at the position, and Underwood's chances of making the team looked extremely unlikely.

Underwood returned to the team early in the offseason after he was shockingly released the night before Super Bowl XLVI. The move drew national attention due to the timing of the decision, which was not related to discipline.

Since most teams are only three weeks into their offseason programs, Underwood will have more than enough time to hook on with a new organization.
