Stephen A. Smith Predicts Celtics Will Get Steamrolled by Heat, Would Be ‘Shocked’ If Series Is Competitive

Finally, we have the series that almost everybody wanted. But according to ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith, the upcoming Celtics-Heat showdown won't live up to its billing.

Smith predicted that the Celtics will get steamrolled by the Heat in the Eastern Conference final, going so far as to say that he'd be shocked if the series was competitive and went six or seven games.

"I see the Miami Heat basically steamrolling over the Boston Celtics," Smith said.. "You don't mean to sound disrespectful by any stretch of the imagination. You know the Boston Celtics could compete with these guys, could give them a run for their money and possibly beat them if they were healthy. But Paul Pierce still looked a little bit gimpy. Even though Ray Allen seemed to be running well, his lateral movement seemed a bit shaky, not to mention the fact that his shot is not falling with any degree of regularity."

Smith also cited the solid play of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade as reasoning for his prediction. He described the Heat as younger and more athletic, as well as tough and rugged. The Celtics, according to Smith, are "pretty much hobbling around."

He may have a point. The C's are pretty banged up at this point, especially after a hard-fought seven-game series with the Sixers. However, if we've learned anything this season, it's that you can't count out the guys in green.
